Video 4-1. Tendinosis of the Anterior Tibial Tendon: Short Axis
The yellow circle in the beginning of the video encompasses the anterior tibial tendon in short axis. Toward the end of video the 90 degree angle of incidence is lost and the tendon looks dark due to anisotropy. At the very end of the video the proper angle is restored.
Video 4-2. Tendinosis of the Anterior Tibial Tendon: Long Axis
The red rectangle encompasses the anterior tibial tendon in long axis. The superficial portion of tendon is most affected.
Video 4-3. Extensor Digitorum Longus Tenosynovitis at the Ankle Level
At different levels the tendon in short axis is highlighted for identification.
Video 4-4. Peroneus Brevis Split
Video 4-5. Peroneal Intra Sheath Subluxation
Video 4-6. Posterior Tibial Tendinosis
Periodically (at 3 locations) the posterior tibial tendon is highlighted to emphasize location along the path of this examination.
Video 4-7. Large Retro Calcaneal Bursa
Video 4-8. Retro calcaneal bursa with fatty infiltration
Video 4-9. Old Achilles Rupture with Fatty Infiltration of the Soleus Muscle
Video 4-10. Achilles Acute Rupture
Notice that when the foot is dorsiflexed the distal aspect (to the left of the screen) moves but the proximal does not.
Video 4-11. Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon Posterior to the Ankle
The posterior aspect of the ankle joint is easily visualized in this video clip.
Video 4-12. Posterior Tibial Tendon, Normal
It is important to focus on the tendon as the probe courses into the foot. As the tendon gets close to the navicular it becomes less distinct due to the fanning out of the tendon as it inserts into the navicular.
Video 4-13. Posterior Tibial Tendon, Normal
Video 4-14. Posterior Tibial Tendon with Calcification, Near Insertion into the Navicular
Video 4-15. Posterior Tibial Tendon Passing Through a Tunnel of Calcification
Motion of the tendon was not impeded. However, this condition was symptomatic.
Video 4-16. Achilles Tendon with Multiple Areas of Calcification
Video 4-17. Achilles Tendon, Normal
Video 4-18. Peroneals, Normal
Video 4-19. Peroneal Tendons, Irregular Gliding Surface
Unusual case of a symptomatic irregularity of the surface--the peroneals glide posterior to the fibula.
Video 4-20. Posterior Tibial Tendon with Effusion of Tendon Sheath and Tendon Fraying
Video 4-21. Posterior Tibial Tendinosis with Synovitis, Splitting and Fraying
